Donald K. Allen for President
Campaign Statement
During the past two years I’ve developed a desire to do something more with my life. I know I will never retire, and intend to continue working as a veterinarian until I’m in my 80s or longer. There are so many people in this country that simply want to live a good life and not be taken advantage of. Nearly everyone wants a better life than they now have, or a better life for their children.
There are definitely many things that can and should be changed in America that would benefit everyone, but our government is notorious for inaction. Tort reform, term limits for Congress, Social Security, health care, and tax reform are just a few of the topics that politicians all talk about, but nothing is getting done. It’s time for a new broom.
Much can be done by a President if he or she is devoted more to change than to their own political party. I would do away with lobbying and other forms of special interest influence affecting the judgment of our elected officials. I am more concerned with what is best for the whole country and each and every one of you than what will benefit a single corporation, industry, or faction. Yes, quite often, power brokers are extremely influential in the election of a President, but I believe that it should really be all the “little people,” citizens like you and me, that should be making this decision.
As in the movie, “Network,” I would like to see the people of this great country of ours stand up and say, “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore!” If you are one of the many who have become disillusioned with government, or do not believe your vote is worthwhile, then now you can prove that your vote DOES count. If you have not bothered to vote, or have refused to vote, I ask you now to reconsider. With your one vote, along with hundreds of thousands more like you, you can bring about a real change in government for the betterment of everyone. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country.
I am running as an Independent. I truly believe that is the only way to get both parties to work together, instead of against each other to the detriment of our great country. You do not have to agree with all of my platform proposals, but if you agree with most of them, I need your support. I keep hearing naysayers telling me this can’t be done. I also remember my junior high school advisor telling me to forget about becoming a veterinarian.
I welcome your support, and if you believe in me and what I, too, believe in, then I ask for the minimum you can do. Put one dollar in an envelope and pledge me your vote. Sign your name to the back of the envelope or sign a 3 X 5 index card and I will count you on my side. If you wish, include your complete mailing address. If you can afford more, that is welcome, too. The front-runners are getting thousands every time they speak.
I am up for debate, speaking engagements, and town hall meetings. I am serious about running for President. I bring with me the conviction of a sincere heart. Not a politician by profession, I will speak directly to an issue and not around it. Perhaps not being a politician is a good thing today.
