Donald K. Allen for President

Top of the Week

One year from today the election will be over, and the future or our great country will doomed or redeemed.  Doomed to follow the path laid out by the power-players behind both political parties, or redeemed to follow the intended path set forth by our country’s founders in the Constitution.  Our nation’s sovereignty is at stake, as well as our independence and world leadership.  Our laws may be subjugated to international laws, such as the Law of the Sea Treaty.  One step closer to the New World Order and a borderless, socialist society.  I can see the right path, and will take our country down it.

In Riverside, CA, someone was offended by the recitation of a solemn flag-folding ceremony at a serviceman’s funeral.  A complaint was filed with the Veterans Administration and the VA issued an order banning the recitations.  They rescinded their order, but families must specifically request the vocal part of the flag-folding.  Political correctness gone amok.  Why do we allow one person to change tradition?  Aren’t we a country of majority rules?  Again the tail wags the dog.

Someone said they looked at my campaign site and said, “You’re a conservative.”  Yes, having worked hard all my life, I tend to be more conservative, but I was raised with liberal values.  I really don’t believe most people truly understand the definitions any more of what a Republican is, or what a Democrat stands for, let alone explaining the underlying differences between liberalism and conservatism.  They often are following family tradition, saying,  “My father was a Democrat, and so am I.”  Did you know there was once a Democratic-Republican Party (1818)?

Webster’s defines liberalism as, “a political philosophy based on belief in progress, the essential goodness of the human race, and the autonomy of the individual and standing for the protection of political and civil liberties.”  For conservatism, it reads, “a political philosophy based on tradition and social stability, stressing established institutions, and preferring gradual development to abrupt change.”  Now do you understand why I filed with the FEC as an unaffiliated independent?  I see the benefits of both parties, and would prefer to select the Cabinet and fill other positions on the basis of individual competence, rather than party preference.
