Donald K. Allen for President

Top of the Week

Monday, January 7, 2008

The key word being promoted this week in both caucuses and forums is that each candidate is the choice for change. Change? Thatr’s what politicians always talk about, but once they’re in office what happens? Where are the changes in tort reform, our tax system, term limits for Congress, the border fence, health care, Social Security, US-Israel relations, keeping American factories at home, oil independence, war on drugs, education???

Change means you are going to do something different than what you've always done in the past. You've always voted for one of the two parties’ candidates in the past. If you want change, why would you do that again? Albert Einstein defined "insanity" as, “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

President Clinton had eight years to bring about positive change. Mrs. Clinton now says she was intimately involved in the decisions he made. He (they) weakened our military forces, signed the largest tax increases in our history, allowed Osama bin Laden slip through his (their) fingers three times, and had NO foreign policy in place for the first eight months of his (their) administration.

President Reagan (and the gradual effects of the USSR’s economic insolvency) was instrumental in bringing the Cold War to an end. This was the most significant change in the second half of the 20th century. Regardless of how you individually feel about the present administration, our Congress and President Bush voted to go after Saddam Hussein in Iraq and did a very good thing for our national security. It was a change from the years of ineffective sanctions, inspections, and corrupt UN programs.

This election in November 2008 will be the most important opportunity for the people of America to truly institute REAL CHANGE in the management of our country. Our Founding Fathers established that the requirements for the Presidency are: 35 years of age, a natural born citizen, and 14-year resident of the US. This welcomes diversity. It does not require that you have been a governor, senator, lawyer, or even a professional politician. It encourages new thought, new experience, new background. It encourages real change.
